Job summary

The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff is seeking an experienced Conference & Events Banqueting Manager to lead our busy events team. You will ensure seamless delivery of conferences, banquets, weddings and gala dinners, while upholding the highest guest-service standards.

This role demands strong leadership, budget oversight, and a hands-on management style. You will collaborate with hotel leadership to drive operational excellence and guest satisfaction, with shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Conference & Events, Banqueting or Food & Beverage management role within a high-volume, quality-focused hospitality environment
• Outstanding leadership, coaching and people management skills with a passion for developing teams
• Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets, payroll, forecasting and cost control
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across departments
• A hands-on management style with a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence
• Level3 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent) and a sound understanding of licensing, health & safety and compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the Conference & Events team to deliver outstanding service for conferences, banquets, weddings and special events
• Oversee the planning, set-up, delivery and breakdown of functions, ensuring every event exceeds guest expectations
• Manage departmental performance, budgets, payroll and operational efficiencies to achieve financial targets
• Recruit, train, coach and develop team members, creating a positive and engaging working environment
• Monitor guest feedback, resolve concerns professionally and continuously improve the guest experience
• Work closely with the Hotel Manager and wider hotel teams to drive service standards, innovation and business success
• Ensure compliance with all health & safety, food safety and licensing regulations
• Maintain a visible presence across all Conference & Events areas, leading by example and supporting the team operationally when required
