About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a diligent Insurance Commercial Underwriter to join our New Business team as a Senior Commercial Underwriter. You will evaluate and assess complex risks across various business classes, including Motor Trade, Farm, Estates, and Commercial Select products. You will also act as a point of referral for less experienced team members, providing training, coaching, and technical support. Additionally, you will support departmental changes and process improvements, deliver projects, and build strong relationships with our Agents to resolve complex referrals and manage insurance risk effectively.

Initially, full-time presence in the office is required for the first 6 months, followed by ongoing training to support your career growth. Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 6 pm, with a hybrid working model of two days per week from York office.

About you

You should be an experienced Commercial Underwriting professional with expertise in new business across various business classes. Resilience, effective communication, and confidence in influencing risk decisions are essential. You should have:

• Property & Liability Commercial Underwriting experience within the mid-market space
• Experience in coaching, mentoring, and training colleagues
• Strong communication skills with leadership in risk decision-making
• Ability to make rational decisions in a fast-paced environment
