Job summary

The Senior Contract Surveyor will lead commercial management on a major construction scheme, driving robust cost control and contractual compliance across multiple work packages. You will prepare and negotiate subcontracts and variations while mentoring junior surveyors.

Candidates must have extensive Quantity Surveyor or Contract Surveyor experience, solid NEC/JCT knowledge, strong negotiation skills and a proven track record delivering large projects and managing stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Contract Surveyor, ideally in a senior capacity.
• Proven track record in managing financial and contractual aspects of large-scale projects.
• Working knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of commercial and contractual management across multiple work packages
• Prepare and negotiate subcontract agreements, variations, and claims
• Produce detailed cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Monitor and control project costs against budget, identifying potential risks and opportunities
• Oversee valuations, progress payments, and final account settlements
• Ensure strict compliance with contractual terms and relevant legislation
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior surveyors within the commercial team
