Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is recruiting a Commercial Manager to join a major highways infrastructure scheme in the North West, based in Penrith, Cumbria. You will lead commercial activities, ensure financial targets and NEC contract obligations are met, and work closely with clients, subcontractors, and the project team to secure profitability.

The role offers a permanent position with a competitive package and a pathway to take ownership of commercial risk and governance across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or highways.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing project costs, subcontractors and commercial change.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• A commercially driven approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of project activities, ensuring financial targets and contractual obligations are met.
• Manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Administer NEC contracts and manage change, compensation events and commercial risk.
• Identify opportunities to maximise value and protect project profitability.
• Work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure robust commercial governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
