Kenton Black Limited is recruiting a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial management of a major highways infrastructure project in the North West. Based in Penrith, Cumbria, the role offers responsibility for financial targets, NEC contract administration, and coordination with the project team.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in civil engineering or highways, strong NEC knowledge, and a commercially driven approach to project delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or highways.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing project costs, subcontractors and commercial change.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of project activities, ensuring financial targets and contractual obligations are met.
• Manage cost control, forecasting, CVRs and commercial reporting.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Administer NEC contracts and manage change, compensation events and commercial risk.
• Identify opportunities to maximise value and protect project profitability.
• Work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Ensure robust commercial governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
