We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Area 10 team based at Preston Brook Depot in Runcorn (WA73AT). As a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Manager) at Amey you will be responsible for the end to end commercial process for the Area 10 contract.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to provide commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. This role specifically is to manage circa £8m of cyclical works under NEC TSC Option A.

You will be responsible for :

  • Provide holistic management of all back-office functionality on the contract including Commercial, Operational Control Room & Performance/Systems.
  • A strong knowledge and experience of NEC4 Term Service Contract
  • Provide commercial and contractual support to operational teams
  • Effectively assist in managing the commercial team and commercial support staff
  • Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team and the operational site teams
  • Manage and maintain our relationship with Highways England and subcontractors
  • Identifying early warning and compensation events in line with contract conditions and ensuring that all notifications, evidence and quotations are submitted in line with NEC4 timescales
  • Ensure robust, accurate and timely CVR reporting at both project and business unit level
  • Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place
  • Carry out cost management including forecasting
  • Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy
  • Ability to challenge resources and costs
  • Maintaining deadlines in line with monthly commercial calendar
  • Ensure that the supply chain are engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions
  • Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting
  • Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business unit
  • Actively seek to improve processes and procedures
  • Have a good understanding of the processes and procedures used by Amey and assist in their development and improvement

• Strong negotiation, communication, presentation and influencing skills.

• Excellent contract interpretation and application skills.

• Sound knowledge of commercial principles and best practices.

• High level of analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.

• Ability to lead and manage a team and work collaboratively with others.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
