Could you be the full-time Senior Commercial Manager helping to shape our commercial future in Alstom UK?

We're looking for someone to be a key member of the commercial leadership team, reporting to the Head of Commercial. You'll manage customer relationships and drive the profitability of product lines across multiple contracts. You’ll oversee the successful delivery of contractual obligations, ensuring that quality, cost, and delivery goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and commercially.

Your Future Role

In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for the commercial performance and stra tegy of a business area. You’ll work closely with the Head of Commercial and collaborate with cross-functional teams to:

  • Deliver financial and commercial performance in line with business expectations.
  • Lead commercial strategy and execution for Sales Delivery and contract management.
  • Promote professionalism, commercial acumen, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled from award through execution and warranty.
  • Build and develop a high-performing, inclusive commercial team aligned with company values.
  • Adhere to all governance, compliance, and safety standards.

Commercial Operations

  • Lead commercial management across a portfolio of contracts, ensuring profitability and compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Conduct regular contract performance reviews, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Manage robust contract variation and change control processes.
  • Provide commercial insight and leadership to improve financial outcomes, reduce costs, and improve cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate cost and revenue data for internal reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Lead negotiations on new and existing agreements to maximise value and minimise risk.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Operations to develop successful bids and launch projects.
  • Act as the main point of contact for commercial customer discussions, bringing customer insights into internal strategy.

Team Leadership and Strategic Contribution

  • Coach and support commercial team members to meet performance objectives.
  • Align team activities with business growth strategy and sales pipeline development.
  • Lead the commercial input into budget planning and forecasting cycles.
  • Contribute to “Make vs. Buy” decisions and commercialisation of new services, including at our Component Repair & Overhaul (CRO) facility.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Proven experience in a senior commercial or contract management role, ideally within a technical or engineering services environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and financial principles, including contract law, negotiation, and business performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive profitable growth through effective contract and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with both internal and external customers to resolve complex issues and align business objectives.
  • Ideally degree-qualified in Business, Law, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent commercial experience).

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
  • Work with colleagues and customers based all over the world
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects
  • Utilise our agile working environment
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive benefits (pension, life ins., medical).
