Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial strategy for a major National Grid infrastructure upgrade. The role starts in central London and transitions to the Watford project office, overseeing costs, risk, and final accounts.

You will negotiate with the client and supply chain, manage a commercial team, and ensure robust governance and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering major infrastructure or complex construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of the project, driving strategy, performance and delivery.
• Own the commercial strategy and ensure contractual obligations and business objectives are met.
• Oversee project costs, budgets, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Manage contractual risk, NEC4 change control, compensation events and claims.
• Lead negotiations with client and supply chain to optimise cost and value.
• Prepare, agree and settle final accounts.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while maximizing opportunities.
• Provide commercial guidance to the project team for effective decision making.
• Oversee commercial reporting including reviews and performance dashboards.
• Lead, develop and coach the wider Commercial team.
• Build strong relationships with client, supply chain and stakeholders.
• Maintain robust governance, processes and controls across the project.
