For more information, visitwww.certinia.com. THE ROLEThe Accounts Receivable team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Collections Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of customer accounts, with a focus on reducing overdue debt and supporting cash flow objectives.
This role requires close collaboration with internal departments, including Sales, Customer Success, Billing, and Finance, as well as proactive engagement with external customers and Senior Management to ensure effective collections and positive customer relationships. Contributions to the continuous improvement of the collections function are also expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.
Proactively engage with clients by phone, email, and letter to secure payment commitments.
Monitor account performance, identifying and mitigating potential risks early.
Update weekly aging report with detailed notes and collection forecasts, documenting communications in Salesforce.
Timely follow-up and appropriate escalation of issues to manager when necessary
Collaboration with internal teams (Sales, Customer Success, Billing, Legal) to facilitate collections, address customer concerns, and ensure effective communication.
Identify and escalate high-risk accounts, recommending appropriate actions such as payment plans, suspension, legal proceedings, or write-offs.
Perform detailed account reconciliations and partner with billing and sales teams to resolve discrepancies.
Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements within the collections function.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
Support with month-end activities, cash forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting as required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience (3+ years) in Credit Control, Collections, or Accounts Receivable in a B2B environment.
Excellent negotiation, influencing, and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrate ability to work autonomously and effectively manage a workload with multiple deadlines.
Proficient in the use of spreadsheets and experienced with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
CICM qualification (or part-qualified) preferred but not essential.
Solid understanding of UK and EMEA credit control and debt recovery procedures.
Familiarity with relevant financial regulations and legislation (e.g., FCA guidelines, Data Protection Act).
Understanding of UK and EMEA business culture and communication styles.
