Job summary

SolidCor in Chesterfield is seeking a Senior Multi Skilled CNC Machinist to lead our high-precision machining operations. You will operate, 5-axis CNC (SCM M100), program new cycles and support production across Beamsaw and Edgebander.

The role blends hands-on machining with mentoring, process improvements, and maintenance to maximise uptime and quality. You will collaborate with the Plant Director and Shift Manager while upholding SolidCor's safety standards.

Qualifications

Extensive experience operating and setting CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to programme CNC machines and optimise existing programmes.
Experience with 5-axis CNC machining (SCM M100 or equivalent).
Background in joinery, timber or fire door manufacturing is preferable.

Responsibilities

Operate, set, and programme CNC machining centres to produce components to specification.
Work across Beamsaw, Edgebander and related machinery, adapting to priorities.
Lead setup, optimisation, and maintenance to maximise uptime and quality.
Mentor less experienced CNC operators and raise overall skill levels.
Write and optimise CNC programmes for efficiency and material yield.
Perform quality checks and diagnose dimensional issues quickly.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in line with HS standards.
Collaborate with Plant Director and Shift Manager on process improvements.
