Job summary

Elsevier Limited is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and operate secure cloud-based services in AWS. You will contribute to an Agile team, implement CI/CD, and help shape engineering standards while mentoring colleagues.

The role focuses on scalable, production-ready software with monitoring, alerts, and an emphasis on reliability and security across our information protection platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS cloud services in production environments.
• Proficient with GitHub Actions within CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong Python programming knowledge.
• Front-end tech experience with JavaScript/Node.
• Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies and Cloudflare features.
• Solid Git and SQL skills.
• Knowledge of Terraform and Linux.
• Familiarity with RESTful, event-driven architectures, CI/CD testing, and Agile DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Deliver software engineering services for products where reputation management and security are critical to ongoing business success
• Build software that meets KPIs and NFRes in production with stability, scalability, and security in mind
• Set up and maintain AWS infrastructure to deploy the developed business logic
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and dashboards to help teams operate services effectively
• Develop and maintain a high-quality engineering pipeline so releases are predictable and reliable
• Work effectively as part of a cross functional Agile team and support the products and services the team owns
• Help maintain code quality and engineering standards across the team through collaboration
• Mentor and guide team members, contribute to process improvements, and advocate for positive change
