Job summary

Elsevier in City of London is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and operate secure cloud infrastructure in production. You will work in a fast-paced agile squad delivering scalable services in AWS, with a focus on reliability, security, and robust monitoring.

You will mentor colleagues, shape engineering standards, and collaborate across teams to raise the bar on CI/CD practices, code quality, and incident response.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and cloud-based production systems.
• Strong CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions.
• Solid Python knowledge.
• Frontend experience with JavaScript/Node.js.
• Experience with WAF technologies and Cloudflare features.
• Proficiency with Git and SQL.
• Knowledge of Terraform and Linux.
• Familiarity with RESTful services, event-driven architectures, scripting, and CI/CD in Agile DevOps envs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver software engineering services for products where reputation management and security are critical to ongoing business success.
• Build software that meets KPIs and NFRs in production, with stability, scalability, and security in mind.
• Set up and maintain AWS infrastructure to deploy the developed business logic.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and supporting dashboards to help teams operate services effectively.
• Develop and maintain a high-quality engineering pipeline so releases are predictable, repeatable, and reliable.
• Work effectively as part of a cross functional Agile team and support the products and services the team owns.
• Help maintain code quality and engineering standards across the team through collaboration and support.
• Mentor and guide team members, contribute to process improvements, and advocate for positive change.
