Job summary

Standard Life plc in the UK is seeking a principal-level software engineer to own the technical direction, security and cost controls of our cloud contact platform across AWS, Amazon Connect and Salesforce Voice. You will set strategy, guardrails and drive enterprise-scale delivery with cross-functional partners.

You’ll lead architecture reviews, deliver reusable infrastructure and define observability and incident response practices to meet regulatory and business needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on AWS platform engineering with enterprise-scale services.
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Connect architecture, routing, telephony, security, and resilience.
• Experience integrating Amazon Connect with Salesforce Voice or similar Salesforce services.
• Infrastructure as code, CI/CD, APIs, serverless and event-driven services.
• Proven ability to lead at Principal level, set strategy and standards, influence leadership without line authority.
• Track record of solving systemic engineering problems across multiple teams and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision, engineering roadmap and platform standards for cloud contact services across AWS, Amazon Connect and Salesforce Voice/Agent Desktop.
• Design secure, resilient Amazon Connect services including flows, routing, telephony integration and data retention.
• Lead integration of Amazon Connect with Salesforce Voice and broader Salesforce platform to ensure coherent agent experience and data exchange.
• Build reusable infrastructure and deployment automation using IaC, CI/CD, APIs and scripting.
• Govern supporting AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS) for integrations and analytics.
• Define observability and service management across the end-to-end platform with metrics, logs and dashboards.
• Embed security, privacy, compliance, auditability and cost controls into platform designs.
• Act as technical authority: chair design reviews, deliver engineering assurance, lead incidents and influence senior stakeholders.
