Job summary

iO Associates is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership across secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in a defence-focused environment. You will blend hands-on cloud engineering with automation, DevSecOps, cost optimisation, risk management and mentoring of the team.

This role offers a chance to lead cloud architecture across public, private and hybrid environments, develop IaC patterns, automate operations and drive security governance within a UK sovereign technology

Qualifications

• Extensive cloud infrastructure engineering experience in secure, regulated environments.
• Strong expertise with Azure and Oracle cloud services.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or ARM.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python or Bash.
• Understanding of security frameworks (NIST 800-53, JSP 440, ISO 27001).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage secure cloud infrastructure across public, private and hybrid environments.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code and reusable deployment patterns.
• Automate cloud operations to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Lead cloud training, mentoring and certification initiatives.
• Support technical risk assessments, security and governance.
• Drive cloud cost optimisation and resource efficiency.
• Build automation for provisioning, monitoring, patching and configuration.
• Integrate infrastructure into CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows.
• Contribute to service improvement, operational reviews and incident analysis.
