Job summary

Robinhood in London is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to drive modernization of the Exchange Platform, building low-latency cloud infrastructure and advancing our containerized services.

Based in our London office, in-person attendance is expected at least 3 days per week. You will participate in on-call rotations and collaborate across teams to improve system reliability, performance, and engineering velocity.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of cloud engineering experience in scalable backend systems.
• Strong containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to drive projects end-to-end with minimal supervision.
• Experience coordinating across teams and maintaining high-availability services.

Responsibilities

• Build Next-Gen Infrastructure: Architect and implement high-availability, low-latency cloud infrastructure.
• Modernize and Scale: Lead transition to containerized environments, optimize deployment and scaling.
• Robinhood Ecosystem Integration: Manage high-priority integration projects with Robinhood's global infra.
• Evolve the Stack: Implement backend improvements to boost performance and reduce toil.
• End-to-End Ownership: Own projects from design to deployment.
• Cross-Functional Influence: Collaborate across teams to guide technical decisions.
• Maintain Platform Integrity: Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 reliability.
