Job summary

Transport for London is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to manage Level 2/3 support for in-house AWS-based services, ensuring uptime, performance and security across the Website, API and Journey Planner environments. The role involves out-of-hours support and collaboration with development teams.

The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model (50/50 office and home) and contribute to IaC, AWS IAM, and service improvements, while aligning with ITIL, DevOps and agile practices.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of agile project management, DevOps methodologies & ITIL Service Management.
• Awareness of current/emerging technologies and practices in Enterprise IT services.
• Knowledge of two or more of the following: solutions development methodologies, AWS-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

• Execute support activities to resolve faults within SLAs and restore services.
• Develop and deliver recommendations to fix defects and improve services.
• Suggest service and process improvements for TfL environments.
• Resolve incidents and fulfil service requests within SLAs or escalate appropriately.
• Provide technical knowledge management and peer training to engineers.
• Assist projects and other teams to deliver or update services.
• Maintain AWS infrastructure for TfL websites and Journey Planner, including IaC repositories and environment automation.
• Manage IAM users, policies and permissions within AWS.
• Support development teams with troubleshooting and dev environment reconfiguration.
