Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is recruiting Senior Clinical Support Workers to join dynamic teams at Royal Stoke University Hospital. The role provides essential patient care under the supervision of qualified nursing staff, including shift work across days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

The post requires practical skills such as venepuncture, ECGs and wound care, with a strong emphasis on patient dignity and safety.

Qualifications

• To apply for the post the applicant needs to be competent and proficient in the following skills:
• Venepuncture, taking clinical observations, glucose monitoring, ECG, wound care, cannula care, infection control swabs, pregnancy testing, urine analysis, swelling assessment, and patient observation.
• Ability to support and supervise new staff through buddy system and Care Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Provide fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the nursing/midwifery team.
• Work across a 24/7 rota including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Deliver safe and dignified care to patients and relatives in line with care plans.

Job description

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.

Important information for applicants: To ensure clarity of accountability, scope of practice and professional responsibilities, the Trust does not normally appoint individuals holding active NMC or HCPC registration into Band 2 Clinical/AHP Support Worker, Band 3 Senior Clinical/AHP Support Worker or Band 4 AHP Support Worker/Technician roles. We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Support workers to join our dynamic and friendly teams and provide safe and supportive care to patients, relatives and their loved ones. In this post you would be responsible for providing fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the qualified nursing/midwifery team to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of dignified and respectful care, in accordance with their care plans. We are looking for people who are compassionate and feel passionately about providing a level of care they would wish for their family and friends.

The successful applicants will be based at Royal Stoke University Hospital . As provision of care is a 24 hours, 7 days a week career, you will be required to work shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
