Job summary

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a senior Clinical Coding Team Manager to lead a 4-5 coder team, split roughly 50/50 between hands-on coding and operational leadership, overseeing workload, backlog, and staff wellbeing.

You will code across Trauma & Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and General Medicine using Cerner Millennium and Medicode, while driving performance, mentoring colleagues, and coordinating with the other Team Managers to maintain departmental flow.

Qualifications

• ACC qualification with a minimum of 3 years experience as a clinical coder.
• Strong Excel skills for workload analysis and distribution.
• Experience with Cerner Millennium and Medicode is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 4-5 coder team and balance hands-on coding with management.
• Allocate uncoded lists and balance workloads using Excel.
• Monitor team productivity and overall uncoded backlog.
• Collaborate with other Team Managers to coordinate workflow.
