Job summary

NHS Resolution in Leeds is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Manager with a clinical negligence background to lead a complex, high value caseload from start to finish. You will work with colleagues to deliver fair resolutions and feed lessons into NHS safety systems, while promoting high technical performance and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of complex or high value claims for NHS Trusts, GPs and NHS England.
  • Collaborate with claims function colleagues to deliver fair resolutions and feed lessons into NHS safety systems.
  • Promote high technical performance while maintaining exemplary customer service.
  • Drive KPI achievement and audit compliance across the team.

NHS Resolution is an arm's length body of the Department of Health and Social Care. We provide claims management, dispute resolution and learning services to the NHS, helping to resolve concerns fairly, improve patient safety and protect resources for patient care.

Our Claims directorate manages ten indemnity schemes covering clinical and non-clinical liabilities for NHS organisations and independent providers delivering NHS-funded care in England. As part of an ambitious transformation and growth programme, we are building a single, integrated claims function that promotes collaboration, professional development and service excellence. Experienced Claims Managers are central to this vision, and their expertise will play a key role in shaping the future of claims management at NHS Resolution.

The opportunity
As NHS Resolution continues to evolve, we have are recruiting for experienced Senior Claims Managers with a background in clinical negligence and of managing a complex and or high value caseload while successfully achieving set targets. What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing a caseload of complex or high value claims on behalf of Trusts, GPs, and NHS England, ensuring successful handling and resolution.
  • Working closely with claims function colleagues to deliver our strategic aims of fair resolution whilst ensuring lessons learnt are fed into wider NHS safety systems to improve standards of patient care.
  • In conjunction with Technical Leader colleagues promoting the delivery of high technical performance of the team whilst maintaining exemplary customer service.
  • Promoting high quality standards of case handling to deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the team which consistently meet or exceed designated audit requirements.
  • Supporting the technical development of team members in collaboration with the Operational and Technical Leads, contributing to their career progression.
What We’re Looking For
  • Extensive experience of handling clinical negligence claims to a successful conclusion and experience of successfully managing a complex and or high value caseload while successfully achieving set targets
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the application of current law relating to clinical negligence claims
  • Demonstrable evidence of the ability to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities within a claims environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including composing complex correspondence and legal documentation
  • Experience of planning, designing and delivering training to share expert knowledge with claims colleagues
  • The ability to explain highly complex issues to internal and external stakeholders and overcome any barriers to understanding
  • Understanding of NHS Resolution strategic objectives, philosophy and PEER values
