The purpose of the role is to provide a market-leading claims advocacy service with responsibility for ensuring the effective management and settlement of high-profile, complex claims.

A Claims Advocate is a strategic partner, focused on driving client success and business growth. They leverage expert communication, persuasive argumentation, and insurance policy analysis to present compelling cases for clients. By anticipating potential challenges and addressing stakeholder concerns, they ensure optimal outcomes throughout the claim's lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Pro-active management and control of high-profile, complex claims. This primarily involves delegated authority (Binding Authority) business, with 99% of workload tied to binders, TPAs and coverholders.
  • This responsibility includes identifying coverage issues early in the claim lifecycle and coordinating with clients and insurers to help facilitate timely resolution and communication.
  • Producing claims information and presenting to insurers or clients, either in written or networked format; and dealing with any resultant instructions, queries and enquiries.
  • Monitoring insurers’ agreement and payment of funds and ensuring that payment is made to the appropriate beneficiary.
  • Reporting any claims difficulties immediately to management.
  • Ensuring relevant insurer’s instructions are notified to Client/expert and vice versa.
  • Building meaningful relationships with Clients, experts and insurers by dealing with them in a prompt, friendly and professional manner at all times.
  • Ensuring effective liaison with placing colleagues, including, where required, the maintenance and provision of claims statistics for renewal or similar purposes.
  • Ensuring effective liaison with accounting colleagues both in respect of collection/payment of funds, any queries and the subsequent clearance of accounting entries.
  • Keeping up to date with market and system changes.
  • Monitoring workload and reporting to management as appropriate.
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of Binding Authority agreements, with proven experience managing claims arising from binders and delegated authority arrangements. Familiarity with insurer protocols and TPA management is essential.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business, law, economics, or engineering preferred but not required.
  • At least DIP CII, or ideally ACII qualified.
  • Relevant experience with a broker, insurer, lawyer, or loss adjuster handling claims.

Person Specification

  • Experience working within a delegated authority or Binding Authority framework, with a sound understanding of regulatory requirements and claims processes associated with binders.
  • Ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and ambitious – willing to take on challenges and grow technically and professionally.
