Hill McGlynn Recruitment is partnering with an established construction business to appoint a Civils Contracts Manager based from the Sittingbourne office. You will lead the management and delivery of civil engineering and groundworks contracts, drawing on an extensive client network and strong commercial insight.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Contracts Manager within civil engineering and groundworks.
• Established client base and strong industry contacts.
• Understanding of running civils and groundworks business.
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, foundations, infrastructure.
• Experience managing multiple contracts and site teams.
• Ability to develop client relationships and identify opportunities.
• Strong commercial awareness including estimating, tendering, pricing and profitability.
• Experience managing directly employed labour and subcontractors.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Confidence to work independently and drive business performance.

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple civil engineering and groundworks contracts from tender through to completion.
• Supporting the growth and development of the civils and groundworks business.
• Utilising an established network of clients and industry contacts to identify new opportunities.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with developers, main contractors and other clients.
• Overseeing groundworks, drainage, foundations, infrastructure and associated civil engineering works.
• Managing Site Managers, Supervisors, operatives and subcontractors across multiple projects.
• Taking responsibility for contract programming, labour allocation and resource planning.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Working closely with estimating and commercial teams on tenders, pricing and contract negotiations.
• Monitoring project costs, profitability, variations and commercial performance.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, performance and coordination.
• Attending client meetings and providing regular project and contract updates.
• Identifying operational and commercial risks and implementing appropriate solutions.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
• Supporting business development, tender opportunities and long-term growth strategies.
