Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a civil/structural CAD design engineer in a hybrid role based in Manchester. You will produce 2D/3D design deliverables for water projects, using Revit for BIM and Civil 3D/AutoCAD for civils design, while coordinating within a Common Data Environment.

You will work with minimal supervision, ensure designs meet codes and budgets, and liaise with multiple disciplines to define interfaces. Relevant qualifications and 4D/sequence experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience drafting civil and structural CAD deliverables for water projects.
• Proficient in Revit for 3D BIM modelling and 2D drawings.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for civils design.
• Ability to work with a Common Data Environment and coordinate interfaces.
• Strong communication and ability to delegate design tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design solutions for Concept to Detailed Design in 2D/3D for civil and structural, temporary, and permanent works.
• Use Revit for 3D BIM modelling and 2D drawing extraction and/or Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for civils design.
• Ensure draughting activities stay within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity.
• Ensure work complies with relevant codes, standards and procedures.
• Maintain and develop awareness of current relevant codes and standards.
• Implement company, and where applicable client/project policies and procedures.
• Coordinate effectively with other disciplines to ensure interfaces are clearly defined and correctly designed.
• Liaise with other departments, project personnel, vendors, clients etc.
• Based in the Manchester office with hybrid/remote and occasional site visits as required.

Role description; hybrid role so some office work and some WFH.

Working within the Water team, often with minimal supervision or guidance, the fundamental requirement of this role is to production and develop civil and structural CAD design deliverables, including 3D models, technical drawings, and sketches for water projects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of design solutions for all project stages from Concept to Detailed Design in 2D/3D for civil and structural, temporary, and permanent works as requested by Senior/Principal or Lead Engineers.
• Use Revit for 3D BIM modelling and 2D drawing extraction and/or Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for some elements of civils design. Work within a Common Data Environment.
• Ensure that draughting activities are executed within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity.
• Ensure that work is carried out with relevant codes, standards and procedures.
• Maintain and develop awareness of current relevant codes and standards.
• Implement company, and where applicable client/project policies and procedures.
• Effectively communicate with other disciplines to ensure that interfaces are clearly defined and correctly designed.
• Liaise with other departments, project personnel, vendors, clients etc.

You will be based in the Manchester office with facility to work remotely and with occasional visits to other offices and site in line with project requirements.

The candidate will have:

• Qualified to City & Guilds or HNC/HND level. EngTech or IEng ICE professional qualification an advantage.
• Experience of 4D simulation, construction sequencing and clash detection software beneficial.
• must be competent in design & detailing of foundations, below ground infrastructure, including drainage, cable ducting, etc. and steelwork and concrete. Experience of reinforced concrete detailing advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to delegate and manage design tasks
