Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior CAD Technician to support engineers and consultants in the Water Team, delivering high-quality drawings and models.

Based in Glasgow with a flexible hybrid working model, the role focuses on Civil 3D and Revit, BIM leadership, and collaboration across major water infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Experience delivering project information per BIM standards.
• Proficient in Civil 3D or Revit; 5+ years coordinating models in Navisworks.
• Experience with Common Data Environments (ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Develop design outputs from concept to detailed design.
• Promote and lead BIM behaviours on projects.
• Coordinate deliverables across multiple projects and manage resources.
• Maintain CAD standards and modelling processes.
• Participate in design team meetings and promote 3D reviews.
• Mentor junior Revit Technicians across Scotland offices.

Senior CAD Technician

Are you ready to support a talented team of engineers and consultants, and shape the future of the water industry? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Senior CAD Technician. We are looking for a passionate individual with Civil 3D and Revit experience to contribute to the delivery of high‑quality technical drawings and models across a range of infrastructure projects. You will be based in our Glasgow office, whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

Our projects include major water companies such as Thames Water, Welsh Water, Severn Trent Water, Wessex Water, South West Water, Scottish Water and Tier 1 Contractors.

Responsibilities

• Digital Delivery: Responsible for developing design outputs from initial concepts through to fully detailed design deliverables.
• Utilise Digital Tools: Encourage the use of digital tools to review, influence, and enhance design quality processes.
• Champion BIM: Promote, articulate, and lead BIM behaviours on the projects.
• Coordinate project Deliverables: Support coordination of deliverables for multiple projects, ensuring completion within budget. Provide support and management of project resources to facilitate production of deliverables.
• Team Relationship: Be proactive in relationships with internal project stakeholders, reporting progress and highlighting any technical issues for timely resolution.
• Maintain Standards: Support the CAD Lead in maintaining CAD standards, best practices, and processes for modelling, content creation, and advanced digital developments.
• Design Team Meetings: Actively participate and input to design team meetings, bringing with you a digital by default mindset, championing the use of 3D model reviews and markups.
• Mentor Junior Technicians: Work across the Scotland offices supporting junior Revit Technicians from a technical perspective.

Qualifications

• Certified minimum of HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Experience in delivering project information in accordance with BIM standards.
• Proficient in using Civil 3D or Revit, with experience validating and coordinating models in Navisworks or similar software (minimum 5 years of experience).
• Common Data Environment Experience: Experience working in a Common Data Environment such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar.
