Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Southeast offices, delivering water and wastewater capital programmes across the UK. You will lead complex infrastructure projects for clients such as Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, and Southern Water.

The role focuses on technical leadership, design, feasibility studies, and ensuring regulatory compliance, with hybrid working and opportunities for international collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must have Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience in the water sector is required.
• Chartered or near-chartered with ICE/CIWEM or equivalent status.
• Experience in assessments, option appraisals, calculations or economic appraisals.
• Experience in outline and detailed design in wastewater/water treatment, flood risk or drainage.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams of engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists and technical specialists to deliver projects in the UK and overseas.
• Deliver feasibility studies, outline designs, detailed designs, reports and technical specifications.
• Undertake line management responsibilities for junior staff and provide guidance and performance evaluations.
• Ensure design compliance with standards and regulations and provide technical expertise for interdisciplinary studies.
