Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in water and sanitation for projects across Gauteng. Based in Randburg, you will design, plan, and manage water treatment plants, distribution networks, sewer systems, and wastewater facilities to protect public health and the environment.

You will lead project teams, liaise with municipal clients and contractors, and ensure timely delivery within regulatory standards.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional registration as Pr. Eng. with ECSA is mandatory.
• 8+ years of relevant civil engineering experience with water and sanitation specialization.
• Experience in design of water distribution, sewer networks, and wastewater treatment processes.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software (EPANET, WaterCAD, SWMM) and CAD software.

About the Role

Our client, a respected civil engineering firm focused on municipal infrastructure, is seeking a dedicated Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in water and sanitation systems. Based in Randburg , this role is critical for the development and maintenance of essential water supply and wastewater management infrastructure for communities across Gauteng. You will be responsible for the design, planning, and project management of water treatment plants, distribution networks, sewer systems, and wastewater treatment facilities. The position requires a thorough understanding of hydraulic principles, fluid mechanics, and environmental regulations governing water services. You will lead project teams, liaise with municipal clients and contractors, and ensure the successful delivery of vital infrastructure projects. This is a significant opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to public health and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, planning, and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including reticulation networks, pump stations, and treatment facilities. Develop detailed engineering designs, hydraulic models, calculations, and construction specifications. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring project objectives are met. Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and condition assessments of existing infrastructure. Liaise with clients, municipal departments, regulatory authorities, and construction contractors. Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, SANS specifications, and environmental legislation. Oversee construction activities, providing technical support and resolving design issues. Mentor and guide junior civil engineers and technical staff on water and sanitation projects. Review and approve engineering designs and reports.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a strong specialization in water and sanitation services.
• Proven experience in the design of water distribution systems, sewer networks, and wastewater treatment processes.
• Proficiency with hydraulic modelling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterCAD, SWMM) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure development processes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Randburg area.
