Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to ensure technical excellence across complex power infrastructure schemes within the Great Grid Upgrade. You will embed quality standards across substations, overhead lines, cabling works and related civil/M&E packages, and develop Inspection & Test Plans while auditing site activities.

You will collaborate with design, construction, commissioning and client teams to accelerate delivery within the Great Grid Partnership framework,

Qualifications

Experience in power transmission, substations, or heavy electrical infrastructure.
Familiarity with quality management systems, auditing, and compliance frameworks.
Proactive mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to influence diverse engineering teams.
Passion for delivering projects that genuinely make a national impact.

Responsibilities

Embed quality standards across substation builds, overhead line schemes, cabling works, and M&E packages.
Develop and execute Inspection & Test Plans, audit site activities, and ensure compliance with engineering, safety, and environmental standards.
Collaborate with design, construction, commissioning and client teams within the Great Grid Partnership framework.
Drive continual improvement across project lifecycle, ensuring robust, cost-effective engineering outcomes.
