Job summary

Conrad-Consulting is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Southampton to lead projects across highways, drainage and SuDS, with hands-on design and client liaison. You will mentor engineers, review technical work, support bids and fee proposals, and drive growth of civil engineering teams within a multidisciplinary consultancy.

Degree qualified, ideally Chartered (CEng/MICE), with strong UK consultancy experience and proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and excellent communication and leadership

• Chartered status preferred (CEng/MICE) or active progression toward chartership.
• Strong UK consultancy experience in civil infrastructure design.

Responsibilities

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role in delivering projects and driving the growth of its civil engineering team within an established multidisciplinary consultancy.

This is a varied, senior-level opportunity combining hands-on technical design, project leadership, client liaison and business development, with genuine scope to progress into wider leadership or senior management.

The successful candidate will lead civil engineering commissions covering highways, drainage, SuDS, flood risk, infrastructure and external works, while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and liaising with clients, contractors and approving authorities. Mentoring engineers, reviewing technical designs and supporting bids and fee proposals will also form part of the role.

Applicants should be degree qualified, ideally Chartered (CEng MICE or equivalent), with strong UK consultancy experience and expertise in civil infrastructure design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software is required, alongside excellent communication skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to lead projects and develop client relationships.
