Job summary

AZTRUM is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer in the Bedford/Southampton area to take a lead role in growing its civil engineering service. You will oversee feasibility to completion, coordinating highways, drainage, flood risk and external works for diverse UK projects.

The role requires Chartered status (CEng MICE or equivalent) with UK consultancy experience, strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills, and a commercial focus on budgets and bids. Hybrid working available after probation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) with UK consultancy experience.
• Experience in highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS and external works.
• Experience preparing and reviewing flood risk, drainage and highway submissions for planning/technical approval.
• Commercial awareness on budgets, programmes, scope, risk and fees.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; drainage software like Info Drainage or Causeway Flow.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, programme, fees, resources and quality on commissions.

Senior Civil Engineer

Bedford or Southampton

£50,000 + £60,000 + bonuses

The role

An established, multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced Chartered Civil Engineer to take a leading role in shaping and growing its civil engineering service. With a strong project base across the UK and offices of around 25 people in both Bedford and Southampton, this is a collaborative, supportive environment where your input will directly influence how the team develops.

Day to day,

• Lead civil engineering input from feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction support and completion
• Prepare and review highways, access, drainage, SuDS, flood risk and external works design information
• Manage scope, programme, fees, resources and quality on your commissions
• Liaise with clients, contractors, planning and highway authorities, lead local flood authorities, water companies and the Environment Agency
• Support the Directors with fee proposals, bids and business development
• Mentor engineers and technicians, helping to build the team’s capability

The work spans commercial, residential, education, healthcare, industrial, public sector and development-led schemes so no two projects are the same.

About you

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered Civil Engineer, ideally CEng MICE or equivalent, with UK consultancy experience
• Strong technical capability in highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS and external works
• Experience preparing and reviewing flood risk, drainage and highway submissions for planning and technical approval
• Commercial awareness of budgets, programmes, scope, risk and fee proposals
• Competent in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with drainage software such as Info Drainage or Causeway Flow
