Job summary

Alfred Recruitment LLP in London is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a strong drainage and infrastructure background to lead projects and manage client relationships. You will own technical design, review reports, and drive delivery on residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes.

Job description

Are you an experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a strong background in drainage and infrastructure design, and the confidence to lead projects and manage client relationships?

We're working with an established engineering consultancy who work on a range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. They're looking for someone in their London office to take ownership of projects, lead technical design and play an active role in the wider team.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the design of foul and surface water drainage systems, including underground and pumped basement drainage.
• Developing drainage strategies, infrastructure solutions, SuDS and flood risk assessments.
• Designing stormwater attenuation, roads, car parks and hardstanding.
• Producing and reviewing technical reports, drawings and design documentation.
• Managing projects from a technical and commercial perspective, including fees, budgets, resources and deadlines.
• Taking responsibility for project quality, technical issues and delivery against agreed programmes.
• Coordinating with clients, contractors and wider design teams.
• Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.
• Building client relationships and contributing to business development.

What we’re looking for

• At least five years' post-graduate experience in civil engineering consultancy.
• Strong technical experience in foul and surface water drainage design.
• Good knowledge of drainage strategies, SuDS, attenuation and flood risk assessments.
• Proficiency in MicroDrainage and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with PDS 9 and cut and fill calculations.
• Experience independently managing civil engineering projects.
• Confidence managing project fees, budgets and resources.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to coordinate teams and manage competing priorities.

Chartered status or working towards ICE accreditation (CEng MICE or IEng MICE) would be an advantage.
