Job summary

Mattinson Partnership is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to deliver building drainage and development infrastructure projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments in London.

You will lead drainage design from feasibility through to construction, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers. Hybrid working, competitive salary, private healthcare, pension and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong UK experience delivering drainage from concept to construction.
• Proficiency in MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage.
• Understanding of SuDS, flood risk, and UK approvals.
• Chartered status desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead foul and surface water drainage design, including SuDS and basement drainage.
• Perform hydraulic modelling using MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.
• Prepare drainage strategies, calculations and detailed designs.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, developers, contractors and authorities.
• Ensure compliance with UK drainage standards and planning approvals.
• Manage project deliverables, programmes and technical quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to deliver building drainage and development infrastructure projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

You will lead drainage design from feasibility through to construction, providing technical expertise, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting the development of junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead foul and surface water drainage design, including SuDS, attenuation and basement drainage.
• Undertake hydraulic modelling using MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage.
• Prepare drainage strategies, technical reports, calculations and detailed designs.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, developers, contractors and statutory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with UK drainage standards, planning requirements and approval processes.
• Manage project deliverables, programmes and technical quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong UK experience in building drainage and development infrastructure.
• Proven experience delivering drainage designs from concept to construction.
• Proficiency in MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage.
• Good understanding of SuDS, flood risk and UK drainage approvals.
• Strong communication, project management and technical leadership skills.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership is desirable.
