Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead drainage and infrastructure design in Hemel Hempstead. You will own projects from feasibility through to detailed design, coordinating with clients and authorities to ensure successful delivery.

The role offers development across residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes, with mentorship for junior engineers and clear progression toward Chartership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Experience consultancy in drainage and infrastructure design
• Experience on development-led projects
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and InfoDrainage/MicroDrainage
• Good understanding of UK drainage standards
• Strong project and client management
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards it

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of drainage and infrastructure schemes
• Prepare drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments
• Work on S104, S38 and S278 agreements
• Produce detailed civil design packages

Senior Civil Engineer - Hemel Hempstead

Location: Hemel Hempstead
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
Type: Full-Time | Permanent

The Opportunity

An experienced Civil Engineer is sought to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy, taking ownership of civil engineering projects and helping strengthen their civil capability across the South East.

The role offers the opportunity to work across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and technical approvals.

The Role

You will take a lead role in the design and delivery of drainage and infrastructure schemes, working closely with clients, local authorities, water companies and wider multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the design and delivery of drainage and infrastructure schemes

• Preparing drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments

• Working on S104, S38 and S278 agreements

• Producing detailed civil engineering design packages

• Coordinating with clients, authorities and water companies

• Managing programmes and technical deliverables

• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers

• Contributing to the continued growth of the civil engineering team

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

• Consultancy experience in drainage and infrastructure design

• Experience working on development-led projects

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and InfoDrainage/MicroDrainage

• Good understanding of UK drainage and infrastructure standards

• Strong project and client management skills

• Working towards or already achieving Chartered Engineer status
