Job summary

Safer Hand Solutions is recruiting a Senior Children's Residential Support Worker in Staffordshire (ST18). The role supports the Deputy Manager, mentors Residential Support Workers and helps maintain a safe, nurturing home for children and young people.

The position offers progression into Deputy Manager and Management roles, with fully funded training and a strong leadership team. Excellent benefits and long-term career opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience within Children's Residential Care.
• Experience supporting, mentoring or supervising staff.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours using positive and therapeutic approaches.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and supervising Residential Support Workers.
• Acting as a role model and mentor to the wider team.
• Deputising for the Deputy Manager when required.
• Promoting the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people; supporting care plans and behaviour strategies.
• Building positive relationships with young people and encouraging independence.
• Responding to safeguarding concerns and incidents.
• Maintaining quality records and documentation.
• Supporting rota planning and team performance.
• Collaborating with social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals.
• Ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Home Standards.

The Role As a Senior Children's Residential Support Worker, you will be a key member of the leadership team, supporting the Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and providing guidance and mentorship to Residential Support Workers.

You'll help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where children and young people feel supported, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

• Supporting and supervising Residential Support Workers
