Job summary

Scottish Borders Council, SBc Contracts, is seeking a Skilled Chargehand to lead and deliver civil engineering and construction projects. The role involves working across roads maintenance, drainage, and related works, ensuring safety and quality while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Basic education (Numeracy and literacy) required.
• First Aid qualification or obtained within reasonable timescales.
• Certified machinery/plant qualifications (Lantra, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS) or obtained within reasonable timescales.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise civil engineering, roads maintenance, and infrastructure works.
• Ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery in line with procedures.
• Deputise for the Works Supervisor when required.
• Work across multiple locations within the Scottish Borders and beyond.
