Brandon James in Leeds seeks a Senior CDM Principal Designer to lead higher‑value projects, chair design risk meetings and advise clients and design teams on CDM 2015 duties. You will mentor junior staff and contribute to fee proposals and business development.

The role provides exposure to Building Regulations Principal Designer work, with a clear progression toward Associate level and ongoing professional development within the Health & Safety team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience within CDM / Principal Designer services.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015.
• Experience leading client and design team meetings.
• Relevant construction, design or Health & Safety qualification.
• APS membership, or working towards.
• IOSH membership advantageous.
• Experience mentoring junior staff would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of higher-value, technically challenging projects across sectors.
• Chair design risk meetings and review Pre-Construction Information.
• Advise clients and design teams on CDM 2015 duties.
• Maintain technical standards within the team and mentor juniors.
• Contribute to fee proposals, client development and new business opportunities.

Senior CDM Principal Designer

An established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy in Leeds is looking for a Senior CDM Principal Designer to take a leading role within its Health & Safety team.

This position would suit an experienced Principal Designer who is confident running complex projects, advising key clients and supporting the development of less experienced team members.

You will work closely with the consultancy's Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying teams, providing CDM expertise across a broad range of projects throughout the UK.

The Senior CDM Principal Designer Role

The Senior CDM Principal Designer will take responsibility for a portfolio of higher-value and more technically challenging projects across sectors including residential, healthcare, education, commercial and industrial.

You will lead Principal Designer appointments from pre-construction through to completion, chair design risk meetings, review Pre-Construction Information and advise clients and design teams on their duties under CDM 2015.

Alongside project delivery, you will help maintain technical standards across the team, support junior colleagues and contribute to fee proposals, client development and new business opportunities.

The role will also provide exposure to Building Regulations Principal Designer work, depending on experience.
