Job summary

Brandon James is representing a highly respected multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy recruiting a CDM Principal Designer in Bristol.

You will work with clients and design teams to ensure Health & Safety is integrated throughout the design process, delivering Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015 and coordinating with multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years' experience within CDM/construction Health & Safety.
• Experience delivering Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and health & safety best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; client-facing.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Act as Principal Designer under CDM 2015.
• Plan, manage and monitor the pre-construction phase.
• Assist clients with Pre-Construction Information.
• Review drawings for Health & Safety risks.
• Coordinate with Architects, Engineers and Designers.
• Chair and attend design risk meetings.
• Produce and maintain design risk registers.
• Review contractor documentation.
• Undertake site inspections and Health & Safety audits.
• Prepare and review Health & Safety Files.
• Support clients and designers in meeting CDM 2015 duties.

CDM Principal Designer

A highly respected multidisciplinary construction and property consultancy is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join their expanding Health & Safety team in Bristol.

The CDM Principal Designer Role

As the successful CDM Principal Designer, you will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure Health & Safety is properly considered and managed throughout the design process.

The role will include:

• Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015
• Planning, managing and monitoring the pre-construction phase
• Assisting clients with the preparation of Pre-Construction Information
• Reviewing drawings and design information for foreseeable Health & Safety risks
• Coordinating with Architects, Engineers and other Designers
• Chairing and attending design risk meetings
• Producing and maintaining design risk registers
• Reviewing contractor documentation
• Undertaking site inspections and Health & Safety audits
• Preparing and reviewing Health & Safety Files
• Supporting clients and designers in meeting their duties under CDM 2015

The Successful CDM Principal Designer

The successful CDM Principal Designer will ideally hold:

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
• APS and/or IOSH membership
• 3+ years' experience within CDM / construction Health & Safety
• Experience delivering Principal Designer duties
• A relevant construction, design, surveying or Health & Safety qualification
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence working directly with clients and design teams
• Full UK driving licence
