Job summary

Priory's Gateholme home in Wakefield is seeking a Senior Support Worker to join a compassionate team. You will work 7:30am–7:30pm with some weekend shifts, supporting 39 residents with learning disabilities, autism, dementia and other needs.

You will supervise care delivery, contribute to personalised care plans, administer medications, manage some finances, and support staff development while ensuring safety and dignity for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Support Worker or Senior Support Worker.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise, coach and motivate others.
• Committed to promoting choice, dignity, and independence.
• Knowledge of care standards, safeguarding practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the delivery of person-centred care.
• Provide leadership during shifts, including handovers and role allocation.
• Ensure residents have person-centred plans and participate in activities.
• Deliver team supervision and contribute to professional development.
• Administer medication safely and in line with procedures.
• Manage service users' finances and contribute to budget management.
• Complete and oversee accurate record-keeping and compliance with legislation.
• Monitor team performance and address operational issues.
• Maintain up-to-date training for safe practice.
