Job summary

Sandwell Council's Willow Gardens Extra Care Services in Rowley Regis is seeking a Senior Care and Housing Support Officer to help deliver high-quality care and housing support for older people living independently. You will supervise frontline staff, support care plan development, assist with medication management and housing tenancy support, and cover management duties when needed.

The role requires 30 hours per week, weekend and bank holiday work, and a DBS check is part of the recruitment

Qualifications

• A minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Care (or equivalent).
• Level 2 Literacy qualification (or equivalent).
• At least two years' experience supporting vulnerable adults, older people or those with disabilities or dementia.
• Knowledge of Care Quality Commission standards and inspection framework.
• Understanding of Extra Care services, including care and housing support elements.
• Good communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Commitment to person-centred care, dignity, equality and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, guidance and observational supervision to frontline care staff.
• Support the completion and review of person-centred care and support plans.
• Assist with medication management, including ordering, checking and administration where appropriate.
• Support the delivery of housing management and tenancy support functions.
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and independence for people who use our services.
• Coordinate activities and opportunities that enhance community involvement and social engagement.
• Provide management cover and undertake duty management responsibilities as required.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous service improvement.
