Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Senior Care Assistant for St Giles Care Home in Birmingham to support a caring team and deliver high standards of personal care in a safe, inclusive environment.

You will be part of a close-knit team, providing compassionate support to residents and their families while working with health and social care professionals to maintain wellbeing and safety.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in care for care homes.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar care environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive attitude to supporting and nurturing residents and staff.
  • Flexible and responsive to cover a range of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor residents’ wellbeing and update care plans as needs change.
  • Contribute to person-centred care planning; perform monthly evaluations.
  • Support residents with medication requirements.
  • Undertake staff supervision and assist in their development.
  • Serve as a key contact for residents, relatives and health/social care professionals, escalating concerns as needed.

About The Role

Your focus as a Senior Care Assistant will be to support and work alongside the Care team to deliver high standards of personal care, providing a safe, caring, innovative, open, supportive, and inclusive environment for residents, visitors and staff.



Other Responsibilities Will Include


  • Monitoring the wellbeing of each resident, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met, and written records are amended to reflect any variation.

  • Being involved in the person-centred care planning process, by implementing, monitoring, and undertaking monthly evaluations.

  • Supporting residents with their medication requirements.

  • Undertaking staff supervisions and supporting staff with their development where required.

  • Acting as a key point for contact with residents, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon, and concerns or complaints are escalated.

Our Ideal Candidate Must


  • Have an NVQ 3 or equivalent in care for care homes.

  • Have 2 years’ experience working in similar care environment.

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Have a positive attitude to both supporting and nurturing residents and staff.

  • Be responsive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities.
