Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Carbon Consultant to join the Decarbonisation team in the UK. You will deliver carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment and carbon management across global projects, including infrastructure work, reporting to time and budget constraints.

You will help shape client strategies towards net-zero, liaise with stakeholders, and mentor junior staff while operating in a hybrid working environment with opportunities across our international network.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience delivering carbon footprinting, LCA and carbon management across various project types, especially infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external collaboration.
• Collaborative behaviours to maximise stakeholder engagement and influence clients and teams.
• Knowledge of carbon/climate policy and methodologies (ISO14064, PAS2060, PAS2080) and data sources.
• Awareness of industry efforts to reduce carbon in energy, transport, construction and built environment.
• Degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline; strong reporting and numerical skills (Excel and other tools).
• Experience with net zero, carbon in construction, and environmental impact assessment within EIA teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and carbon management projects.
• Guide project delivery to meet quality, time, and budget requirements.
• Assess project performance against national and international standards and best practices.
• Inform design decisions with regard to operational and embodied carbon.
• Support strategic client advice to align policies with net-zero ambitions.
• Develop data analysis as part of carbon assessment, ensuring traceability and robust calculations.
• Prepare reports and present final results to clients.
• Contribute to professional excellence within Mott MacDonald and the climate change community.
• Mentor junior staff to build carbon skills and capabilities.
• Support bid submissions and opportunity development with Account Leaders and carbon specialists.
