Job purpose
As a Senior Capital Analyst, the jobholder facilitates the build, maintenance, parameterisation, documentation, and running of the models to support risk and capital management at IGI.
The job holder will report to the Head of Capital, within the Actuarial team. This role is based in London with occasional travel to Amman (Jordan) office.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, operate and maintain the stochastic capital model using Tyche software and deterministic regulatory and rating agency models using Excel and Psicle software to meet management needs in terms of economic capital, ensure methods and assumptions used are appropriate
- Maintain and enhance the governance around documentation and change control
- Source, validate and automate data inputs feeding into the stochastic and deterministic models
- Perform regular recalibration of the capital model, develop expert judgements and prepare reports and presentations for senior management
- Support the production of the risk and capital analytics to support key decisions across the organisation e.g. business planning, reinsurance strategy and other ad-hoc business request
- Maintain and improve the production of quarterly and annual calculations for regulatory and rating agency submissions
- Work together with other members of the risk management, exposure management and actuarial department and with all other business units to ensure effective communication within the firm in layman’s terms
Key Attributes & Professional Qualifications
- Nearly/newly qualified Actuary
- 3-5 years’ proven track record of capital modelling within P&C sector (Lloyd’s / London Market experience is desirable)
- Coding skills in at least one of these programming packages – R, Python, VBA, Igloo or Tyche
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment. Ability to turn actuarial jargon into layman’s language
- Creative, innovative and logical thinking, and great attention to detail
- Ability to gather and use data to identify areas of change or improvement that can bring about the greatest benefit to the business
