Job summary

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) in North Devon is recruiting a part-time Band 7 Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to support children and young people with complex emotional and mental health needs. You will conduct specialist assessments, deliver evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT-informed, systemic family work), manage risk, and provide supervision within a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasises safeguarding and professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapy for children and young people.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
• Capability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments with children, young people and families to tailor care plans.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT-informed approaches, and systemic family work.
• Manage a caseload of children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
• Collaborate with health, education and social care to provide holistic care.
• Assess and manage risk; implement safeguarding procedures as required.
• Provide supervision and support to junior staff, trainees and colleagues.
• Contribute to service development through audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold standards of care.
