Job summary

Essar Energy Transition at Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, Ellesmere Port seeks a Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering assurance for the safe, compliant operation of refinery assets.

You will work across both operational and project environments to deliver C&I solutions that optimise asset performance and enable business growth while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
• Formal training in functional safety and ATEX would be advantageous.
• Experience as an authorised engineer within Management of Change (MoC) processes.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergent site issues with engineering assurance for safe operation.
• Provide C&I input to safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL determinations).
• Act as C&I technical authority within MoC processes; ensure modifications are robust and governed.
• Design, review and assure safety-related systems per IEC 61511/61508.
• Develop maintenance, inspection and obsolescence strategies to protect asset reliability.
• Own and maintain key business processes to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
• Support outages by scoping work, budgeting, engineering assurance and project execution.
• Lead C&I projects to improve safety, environment, reliability, and business performance.
• Deliver C&I design and assurance across the project lifecycle; concept to handover.
• Prepare specifications and requisitions; ensure ATEX/functional safety are incorporated.
