Job description

Mott MacDonald Bentley is recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join our Infrastructure Water team in Cambridge.

We are working on a major new project to build a modern waste water treatment plant at Honey Hill, located just north of the A14 between Horningsea and Fen Ditton. This new plant will replace the current facility in the northeast of Cambridge.

The role of the Senior Buyer involves implementing procurement deliverables as per the portfolio strategy, and challenging and negotiating both long-term and short-term transactions with framework and non-framework partners.

The primary goal for the Senior Buyer is to fully integrate within the project teams.

What will you be doing as our new Senior Buyer:

1. Implement and support the agreed portfolio and procurement strategies.
2. Aggregate demand across both programme areas WR & W.
3. Evaluate procurement schedules to ensure all relevant information for procurement of goods and services is included.
4. Conduct full Cost-Benefit Analyses (CBA) and Total Benefit Analyses (TBA) to select the appropriate supply chain partners.
5. Notify key items for expediting allocated to specific schemes.
6. Support fit-for-assembly activities, project rehearsals, and planning for stages.
7. Manage and implement effective procurement aligned with estimates and supply chain considerations by project or portfolio.
8. Undertake the RFQ process as required.
9. Ensure all procurement activities are EU compliant.
10. Identify and note critical items for expediting.
11. Capture and report all benefits achieved.
12. Ensure H&S processes and procedures are implemented throughout all deliverables.
13. Ensure all subcontracts are fully completed and reflect the relevant NEC3 contract, as agreed with the supply chain provider (Framework / Non Framework).
14. Assess and implement efficiencies through value-added approaches within the supply chain.

Skills, Experience, and Behaviours:

• Experience in a senior procurement or sourcing role.
• Working towards or membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or the European Institute of Purchasing Management (EIPM).
• Relevant degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management.
