Job Description:

Description and requirements

Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is an inclusive and responsible business that is helping to build a better society. We have successfully delivered major construction projects like the A14 improvement scheme, HS2, and Waterloo and Southwest station upgrade.

Drawing on our Scandinavian heritage, we are green, innovative, and progressive. We bring together people and technology, helping to make our industry safer and more collaborative.

One of our current projects is the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Scheme. In a joint venture with Anglian Water, Skanska is planning to build a modern, low-carbon wastewater treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment, which will recycle water and nutrients, produce green energy, and help Greater Cambridge to grow sustainably.

We are looking for an Electrical Construction Manager to join our infrastructure team in the Cambridge/Peterborough area. The Electrical Construction Manager will be responsible for leading the mechanical installation and decommissioning of the existing works for the project.

You will:

  • Assist in the appointment of specialist contractors and manage their contracts to meet cost, time, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the design team, project management team, construction team, and supply chain, providing mechanical installation expertise.
  • Ensure all relevant standards, regulations, and codes of practice are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop innovative approaches to reduce carbon footprint, increase biodiversity, address climate change, and embrace digital technologies.
  • Manage your team and oversee the production and coordination of the mechanical installation programme and deliverables.
  • Lead reviews on buildability, risks, opportunities, and value engineering.
  • Monitor and report on progress weekly and monthly.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with management plans and client requirements, and that contractor proposals comply with employer’s requirements.
  • Seek candidates with extensive expertise in water and wastewater industries, demonstrating proficiency in water treatment, waste management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hold time-served qualifications in mechanical engineering or related fields (HND/HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds).
  • Be members of relevant professional bodies such as IMechE or CIWEM.
  • Show competence in mechanical installation and instrumentation design in water/wastewater environments.
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and proving of MEICA systems.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams, staff development, and welfare.
  • Possess CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
