Current Project

One of our current projects is the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Scheme. In a joint venture with Anglian Water, Skanska is planning to build a modern, low-carbon wastewater treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment. The plant will recycle water and nutrients, produce green energy, and support sustainable growth in Greater Cambridge.

Job Opportunity: Commissioning Manager

We are seeking a Commissioning Manager to join our infrastructure team in the Cambridge/Peterborough area. The role involves leading the mechanical installation and decommissioning of the existing works for this project.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the appointment and management of specialist contractors, ensuring contracts meet cost, time, quality, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the design team, project management team, construction team, and supply chain, providing expertise in mechanical installation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and codes of practice throughout the project.
  • Innovate to reduce carbon footprint, enhance biodiversity, address climate change, and adopt new digital technologies.
  • Manage your team and oversee the production and coordination of the mechanical installation programme and schedules.
  • Lead reviews on buildability, risk, opportunities, and value engineering.
  • Monitor and report project progress weekly and monthly.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with management plans, client requirements, and contractor proposals.

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive expertise in the water and wastewater industry, with a strong background in water treatment, waste management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or related fields (HND/HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds).
  • Membership of professional bodies such as IMechE or CIWEM.
  • Proven competence in mechanical installation and instrumentation design in water/wastewater environments.
  • Experience in installing, commissioning, and proving MEICA systems.
  • Leadership experience managing teams, staff development, and welfare.
  • Certifications such as CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
