Job Title: Commissioning Manager - Water & Wastewater Industry

Skanska, a global leader in project development and construction, is committed to building a better society through responsible and innovative practices. Our projects include major schemes like the A14 improvement, HS2, and station upgrades.

With Scandinavian roots, we prioritize sustainability, safety, and collaboration, integrating technology to advance our industry.

Currently, we are working on the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Scheme, in partnership with Anglian Water. This project involves constructing a low-carbon wastewater treatment facility that recycles water and nutrients, generates green energy, and supports sustainable growth in Greater Cambridge.

We are seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead the mechanical installation and decommissioning for this project in the Cambridge/Peterborough area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in appointing and managing specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with cost, time, quality, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, design, project management, construction teams, and supply chain to provide mechanical expertise.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant standards, regulations, and codes of practice throughout the project.
• Innovate to reduce carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity, address climate change, and adopt digital technologies.
• Manage the mechanical installation programme, team, and delivery schedules.
• Lead reviews on buildability, risks, opportunities, and value engineering.
• Monitor progress and report regularly on project status.
• Ensure project delivery aligns with management plans and client requirements, and that contractor proposals meet employer standards.

Candidate Requirements:

• Extensive experience in the water and wastewater industry, with a strong background in water treatment, waste management, and regulatory compliance.
• Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or related fields (HND/HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds).
• Membership in professional bodies such as IMechE or CIWEM.
• Proven competence in mechanical installation and instrumentation design within water/wastewater environments.
• Experience with installation, commissioning, and validation of MEICA systems.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of managing teams and staff welfare.
• Certifications such as CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
