Job description

Description

Do you have an interest in risk management? If you're customer oriented with strong ambassadorial skills, this could be a great opportunity for you. We're seeking a Senior Business Resilience Manager to support and influence AXA Commercial in the delivery of a profitable underwriting result to generate positive customer engagement. This role will be based in the North of England and Yorkshire area.

You'll use your expertise in risk identification, elimination or control by conducting on site and remote surveys. You'll provide appropriate, clear and accurate reports of findings in order to identify and reduce risk exposures to AXA and its customers. In addition, you'll provide technical guidance and support to internal underwriters and external customers as requested in respect of survey and non-survey casework.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

What you'll be doing:

• Prioritise survey workload, ensuring that customer requirements and service standards are met.
• Undertake risk survey evaluations of commercial property, motor fleet and liability risks and provide an appropriate technical report.
• Confirm to underwriters on risk quality, rating, classification and loss assessment.
• Deliver appropriate data that is required to influence reinsurance pricing and terms.
• Recognise, negotiate and agree risk improvement measures with policyholders necessary for risk acceptability.
• Prepare a schedule of risk improvement measures for onward transmission by the underwriter, to the client or broker, including appropriate timescale for completion.
• Provide training for new BRM's and branch underwriters.
• Represent AXA at risk-based committees, forums and groups.
Due to the number of applications we expect to receive for this role, we reserve the right to close this advert earlier than the listed closing date to ensure we're able to effectively manage interest. Therefore, if you're interested in joining us at AXA, please don't hesitate to apply.

What you'll bring:

• Experience of property, motor fleet and liability risk surveying, with understanding of associated underwriting practice - essential.
• Evaluation experience of risk and specifying fire, security, escape of water, flood and business interruption risk protections - essential.
• Expertise in evaluation of risk and specifying risk protections for employers', public and products liability.
• Previous experience of dealing with mid to large customers, or more technical challenging risks.
• Thorough knowledge of risk identification, assessment and improvement techniques and standards.
• Knowledge of relevant general and specific trade hazards by occupancy type.
• Up to date on RISC authority rules and recommendations, national and international standards and codes of practice, health and safety principles.
• Presentation, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports of complex risks.
• NEBOSH National General Certificate, CMIOSH, CFPA or equivalent degree - desirable.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
