Senior Building Control Team Leader

Location: Crawley

Hours: 37 per week

Pay Rate: £75.00 per hour

Contract Duration: October 2025 - March 2026 (with the view for extension)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Control Team Leader to support a special project. This senior-level position requires specialist expertise in managing complex and high-risk building projects, including high-rise developments, within the regulatory framework of the Building Safety Act 2022. You will provide leadership and oversight for the Building Control service, ensuring robust compliance with statutory duties, enforcement responsibilities, and the highest professional standards. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on building safety and to shape future service delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Building Control professionals on high-risk and complex cases.
  • Oversee compliance with statutory duties, including enforcement where required.
  • Provide expert advice on the Building Safety Act 2022 and its implications for local authority operations.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Registered Building Control Inspector (Class 3H or higher, as defined by the Building Safety Regulator).
  • Demonstrated competence at specialist level, including oversight of complex/high-rise buildings.
  • Extensive leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and enforcement.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
  • Candidates must hold full professional membership with one of the following:
  • RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
  • CABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers)
  • CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building)
  • MIFireE (Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers)
  • Full UK driving licence (DVLA check required).
  • Commitment to maintaining professional development and compliance with regulatory standards.
