Job summary

Matchtech Group in Manchester is seeking a Bridge Engineer or Senior Bridge Engineer to join a multidisciplinary highways team. The role covers major road, rail and footbridge schemes across the UK and Ireland, from pre-planning to detailed design and construction.

You will design concrete and steel bridges, carry out inspections, apply Eurocodes and DMRB, prepare reports and contract docs, and work with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience in bridge and structures engineering within highways/transport sector.
• Knowledge of bridge design and rehabilitation principles.
• Familiarity with structural Eurocodes, DMRB and UK standards.
• Experience with structural analysis software; Midas Civil advantageous.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and contract docs.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver bridge and structures design packages across diverse transport projects.
• Contribute to inspections, assessments, and rehabilitation schemes.
• Design reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel and steel composite bridges.
• Prepare technical reports, approvals, submissions and contract documents.
• Apply Eurocodes, DMRB and UK bridge standards.
