Job summary

Diagnexia is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Generalist) for an on-site role in Kidlington, Oxford. The post entails leading the Routine section, overseeing operations, training staff and maintaining quality systems in a digitally driven histopathology lab.

You will rotate across dissection, IHC and Specials, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to method development and R&D. A HCPC registration and 5+ years UKAS histopathology experience are mandatory.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist required.
• Minimum 5+ years post-registration in a UKAS accredited Histopathology Lab.
• Proof of CPD and competency is mandatory.
• IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or a Masters Degree is desirable.
• Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience is desirable.
• Experience in preparation for UKAS audits.
• Ability to mentor and supervise staff during delivery of service.
• Awareness of clinical significance and research implications.
• Familiarity with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting in a pathology lab.
• Strong data analysis skills and ability to report findings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Routine section, ensuring high-quality service meeting clinical needs and standards.
• Oversee technical and scientific operations; provide specialist advice as required.
• Rotate across dissection, IHC and Specials sections when needed.
• Supervise junior staff and support recruitment, appraisals and targets.
• Maintain SOPs, competency docs, staff training and CPD.
• Support QA systems and ensure compliance with UKAS and lab protocols.
